Agree that consumer durables should be the core of any future portfolio.

Any recommended funds? Came across Fidelity global dividend which looks good.

Berkshire Hathaway might be a good option as well. Owns US railway stocks, coke cola and other deep moat defensive companies.

It is nearly 50% Apple which is a risk though.

I'm at Vanguard, so VDC or VCSAX.

Additionally, I don't particularly love most makeups of these funds. They seem to be market cap weighted. Most staples funds have PG as their #1 holding. Equal weighted funds exist, but their expense ratios are no bueno for long term investing IMO.

I personally just buy the above ETF, then add individual names I like from within those funds on top. Such as ADM, BG etc.

And yes, I've looked at Berkshire. Warren picked up 100% of BNSF stock, which is huge. I'd love to buy that individually. But yes, then you have Apple in there. I don't particularly even like KO. I understand it's technically a consumer defensive, and have exposure to it via VDC, but you're paying premium for the brand. IMO when things get really tight, people won't pay that premium and go with kola knockoffs.
